Vijay, Suriya to face ‘red card’ from film distributors?

Contrary to reports which appeared in the press during the release of last few films of Vijay and Suriya, it is now said that the two stars had been delivering failure after failure in the past few years.

It is also strongly rumoured that the Tamil Nadu Film Distributors’ Association may even officially serve a ‘ban’ on the release of films involving the two stars in view of the fact that their last few films didn’t do well at the box-office but reports to the contrary were filed with the print and television media.

Vijay’s Puli and Bairavaa were huge failures at the box-office, say distributors who don’t want to be named. Likewise, they also assert that they didn’t rake in profits by taking up release and distribution of Suriya’s 24 and Si3. Ironically enough, the makers of both Bairavaa and Si3 claimed within a few days of the release of these films that the films had collected more than Rs.100 crore at the box-office.

Reports of ‘huge collection’ were planted in the press purposely by the producers at the behest of respective heroes so as to save the ‘image’ of the hero. Last heard, it is said that the distributors are thinking hard about imposing ‘ban’ on release of films starring the two heroes unless they (distributors) are assured of minimum guarantee money.
